Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the MUDdown website, client applications, game servers, and related services (the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
Eligibility and Accounts
You must have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you use the Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide, for safeguarding your account credentials, and for all activity under your account. You may also use certain features as a guest where available, but guest sessions may have limited functionality and persistence.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the Services. For example, you will not:
- Violate applicable law or another person's rights.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, servers, or data.
- Interfere with gameplay, networking, moderation, or service availability.
- Use bots, scripts, exploits, or automation except where explicitly authorized.
- Post content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise disruptive to the community.
Game Content and Virtual Items
The Services include gameplay state, characters, inventory, progression, and other virtual content. Unless we state otherwise in writing, these are provided for use only within the Services and have no real-world cash value. We may modify, balance, remove, or reset virtual content as needed to operate the Services.
We may suspend, remove, or restrict access to any account, character, item, message, or other content that we reasonably believe violates these Terms or harms the Services, other players, or our operations.
Your Content
You retain ownership of content you submit through the Services, subject to the rights you grant us to operate and improve the Services. By submitting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, display, transmit, and distribute that content as needed to provide the Services and enforce these Terms.
Service Changes
The Services may change over time. We may add, remove, suspend, or discontinue features, content, or entire Services at any time, with or without notice, to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that any particular feature, world state, or service level will remain available indefinitely.
Third-Party Services
The Services may depend on or link to third-party platforms, including OAuth providers, Discord, and hosting infrastructure. Those third-party services are governed by their own terms and policies, and we are not responsible for their availability or conduct.
Disclaimers
The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from harmful components.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, StickMUD Entertainment LLC and its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption arising out of or related to your use of the Services.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Services will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Services in the twelve months before the claim arose or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure for us or other users, or where necessary to protect the Services. Certain provisions of these Terms will survive termination, including those relating to content rights, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute resolution.
Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we may provide notice by posting the updated Terms on this page or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of updated Terms means you accept the updated Terms.
